Process strategies for the production of thin-walled component structures in selective laser melting of plastics

The goal of the project is the systematic investigation of the process-geometry interaction of thin-walled component structures for the production of locally adapted component properties as well as the modeling of the effect in finite element simulations and structural optimization based thereon. The mechanical properties which are clearly dependent on the wall thickness shall be minimized by new exposure technologies and strategies based on the findings of CRC 814. The findings will also be incorporated into a wall-thickness-dependent material model for structural optimization. All results will be validated by the participating industrial partners. A method box for the product development of thin-walled structures based on the experimental findings and the wall-thickness-dependent material model will be developed. Hence, the product development process and its efficiency can be fostered in the future. According to these findings, new areas of application for the selective laser melting of plastics can be developed.
